Aisha Nyandoro, Chief Executive Officer
Aisha Nyandoro is the founding CEO of Springboard to Opportunities and the thought leader behind its radically resident-driven approach. In 2018, she launched The Magnolia Mother’s Trust, a pioneering guaranteed income program for single Black mothers. This initiative, born from conversations with local residents, has positioned her as a national advocate for federal guaranteed income policies.
Aisha’s family background in activism influenced her innovative approach, leading her to challenge narratives about poverty and advocate for a broader social safety net. Her expertise has been featured in major media outlets like The New York Times and NPR, and she is a fellow of several prestigious organizations. A recognized national leader in economic, racial, and gender justice, Aisha holds a B.A. degree from Tennessee State University and an M.A. and Ph.D. from Michigan State University.

Sarah Stripp
Director of Socioeconomic Well-Being
Sarah Stripp is the Director of Socioeconomic Well-Being at Springboard to Opportunities, where she leads the organization’s cash-based initiatives and socioeconomic policy priorities. With more than a decade of experience in the nonprofit sector, she provides strategic direction and leadership, supporting families in reaching their goals. Since joining Springboard in 2016, Sarah has played a key role in launching initiatives such as The Magnolia Mother’s Trust and Springboard’s Emergency Cash Disbursements programs, while advancing the organization’s policy advocacy and narrative change efforts. A graduate of the W.K. Kellogg Foundation Fellowship and the Aspen Institute’s Workforce Leadership Academy, Sarah is dedicated to centering community voices and building diverse coalitions to drive meaningful change.

Paheadra Robinson
Director of Fellowships & Leadership Development
As a skilled policy strategist and nonprofit leader, Paheadra is dedicated to empowering individuals and communities through legislative advocacy, financial education, and leadership development. Currently serving as Senior Policy Consultant for the Southern Rural Black Women’s Initiative, Paheadra drives policy agendas on healthcare access and voter protection. She also works with the Mississippi Black Women’s Roundtable and Springboard to Opportunities to develop leadership programs for youth and women. As Executive Director of the Mississippi Community Financial Access Coalition, Paheadra oversees financial education initiatives in the Mississippi Delta, fostering economic growth. She also consults with Acclivity Strategies and teaches with the North Central Planning and Development District.

Parthenia Fields
Manager of Community Programs & Navigation
Parthenia Fields is the Manager of Community Programs & Navigation at Springboard to Opportunities. With over ten years of experience serving low-income families and 20 years in education, she specializes in building community relationships and partnerships essential to Springboard’s mission. Since joining in 2014, she has provided on-the-ground services, cultivated partnerships, and developed impactful programs. Now, as a member of the executive leadership team, she leads Community Specialists in empowering families to drive change. Parthenia holds a B.A. and Master of Arts in Teaching from Jackson State University and is the proud mother of one dynamic son.

Ineshia Coleman
Senior Community Specialist – Commonwealth Village
Ineshia Coleman is the Senior Community Specialist for Springboard To Opportunities and a native of Fayette, Mississippi. She earned a Sociology degree from Tougaloo College, where she developed a passion for mentorship and conducted biological research at institutions like Brown University and Alcorn State. Ineshia also holds a Master’s in Public Health from Jackson State University, where she interned at the Mississippi Department of Health. Focused on community development, she seeks to build strategic partnerships and improve resident outcomes. A self-described introvert, she prioritizes mental health, enjoys family time and bargain shopping, and believes in being “selfish to be selfless.”

Latasha Davis
Community Specialist – Dauphin Gate
Latasha Davis grew up in a military family, traveling globally before settling in Mobile, Alabama. She holds a B.A. in Business from Faulkner University and an M.A. in Human Resources and Health Administration from Trident University International. With over 20 years of experience in community service and government, Latasha helps others express themselves through dance. Her passion for helping others stems from her own challenges and growth. Latasha believes that personal growth creates a ripple effect that impacts others and the world. Her motto: “People are my passion, and purpose is the goal.”

Tolanda Jones
Program Associate
With over a decade of experience in community engagement, Tolanda Jones has made significant strides in strengthening and advancing the well-being of diverse and underserved communities. She holds a degree in Systematic Theology and is currently pursuing a second degree in Psychology at Mississippi State University. Tolanda also holds a micro-credential in trauma-informed pedagogy as she is deeply committed to understanding the complexities of the human experience. Tolanda has co-created community-centered programs designed to address the evolving needs of families, emphasizing whole-person well-being and long-term stability. Her work focuses on elevating the voices and lived experiences of the communities she works in solidarity with, ensuring that solutions are shaped by those most impacted. As the program associate at Springboard to Opportunities, Tolanda stewards and helps lead Springboard’s cash-based initiatives, including The Magnolia Mother’s Trust, a guaranteed income program providing low-income Black mothers in Jackson, Mississippi with $1,000 per month for 12 months, no strings attached. Tolanda is a member of Omega Nu Lambda, the Golden Key International Honor Society, and is part of the social and civic organizations that reflect her drive for honoring the dignity of all and collective progress. In her personal life, Tolanda finds joy in music, art, and travel, new culinary experiences, and sharing meaningful moments with her children, family, and friends.

Takyra Moore

Takyra Moore is a passionate advocate for social justice. Hailing from the Mississippi Delta, she earned a B.A. in Sociology with a minor in African American Studies from Georgetown University. Takyra’s education catalyzed her activism, focusing on equitable opportunities and amplifying underrepresented communities. Her journey, shaped by personal experiences and systemic inequities, fuels her commitment to uplifting marginalized voices and challenging injustice. With a blend of academic rigor and lived experience, Takyra is dedicated to promoting empowerment, driving positive social change, and striving to build a more just and equitable society.

Rashaylan Rice
Community Specialist
Rashaylan Rice is a Community Specialist for Springboard to Opportunities and is a Mississippi native. She earned her B.S. In Sociology/Anthropology with a minor in Religious Studies from Millsaps College. Her education and experiences founded her passion for mentoring children, supporting underserved communities, and promoting health. Rashaylan is currently pursuing her Master of Public Health at Liberty University. With several years of experience working with people, she is dedicated to building relationships and creating safe spaces for everyone she serves. In her free time, Rashaylan enjoys spending time with friends and family, reading books, and listening to music.

Sara Upendo
Special Assistant to the CEO
Sara brings over six years of experience in administration to her role as the Special Assistant to the CEO, supporting Springboard and the Guaranteed Income Community of Practice. Born and raised in Flora, Mississippi, Sara now lives in Brandon with her husband and two daughters and is pursuing an associate’s degree at Holmes Community College. Her passion for organization stems from growing up in a large family with a single mother. In her spare time, she enjoys developing gluten-free baking recipes and traveling with her energetic family.

Brandon McCall
Board Chair
Brandon McCall is Vice President of Structured Finance at the National Equity Fund (NEF), where he originates debt and equity transactions focused on preservation and workforce housing. With nearly 15 years of experience, Brandon previously served as Senior Tax Credit Underwriter at Enterprise Housing Credit Investments, managing affordable housing transactions across several regions. He has also held roles at Enterprise Community Loan Fund, Mercy Housing California, and Citibank, N.A. Brandon holds a Master’s of Public Administration from USC and a B.A. in English from Dickinson College. In addition to lending his expertise to Springboard, Brandon is the Board Chair for Innovative Housing Opportunities and serves on the Real Estate Executives Forum board.

Ira Murray
Board Vice Chair
Ira Murray is the associate director of research and development at the Vanderbilt University Initiative for Race Research and Justice, focusing on race, racism, and society. He collaborates with communities to develop tools addressing racial justice. A former nonprofit executive in Jackson, Mississippi, Murray served as CEO of United Way of the Capital Area, Inc. He has worked with several HBCUs and is a third-generation graduate with a bachelor’s from Florida A&M, a master’s from Vanderbilt, and a doctorate from the University of Pittsburgh. Murray is a native of South Carolina.

Elliott Flaggs
Treasurer
Elliott Flaggs is a principal at Cornerstone Government Affairs’ Jackson, Mississippi, office, advocating for clients in state and municipal government, business development, and public relations. Previously, he served as special assistant attorney general and legislative liaison for Mississippi Attorney General Jim Hood. Elliott holds a bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering from Mississippi State University and graduated cum laude from the University of Mississippi School of Law. He is active in the Mississippi Bar Association and several community organizations, including The First Tee of Central Mississippi. Elliott has been recognized for his leadership and community service, including being named one of Mississippi’s Top 50 Most Influential People. He and his daughter, Lianne Marie, reside in Jackson.

Heidi Flynn Barnett
Board Member
Heidi Flynn Barnett possesses over thirty years of expertise in developing internationally acclaimed visual communication design solutions as both a designer and art director. She holds a BFA in Communication Design from The New School’s Parsons School of Design and consistently applies her creative vision and strategic approach to every team she collaborates with. As President of Flynn Design, Heidi serves as a thought partner and visual storyteller, working closely with organizations who share a commitment to social justice and actionable change. Her recent participation in the Terra Foundation for American Art Planning Convening in Paris and Giverny, France demonstrates her engagement in global artistic initiatives. Between 2013 and 2020, she was founding senior partner at Kiyomi, specializing in book design and exhibition graphics. Heidi’s extensive community involvement highlights her dedication to effective leadership and service, underscoring her ongoing efforts to foster positive change through community and collaborative partnerships.

Nakimuli Davis-Primer
Board Member
Nakimuli specializes in employment law and commercial litigation, advising clients on workplace compliance, employee handbooks, and legal risk reduction. She conducts internal investigations, advises on terminations, and guides employers through reorganizations. Nakimuli collaborates with clients on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) initiatives, offering training programs to foster inclusive workplaces and reduce harassment claims. She represents clients in litigation before the EEOC and defends employers in cases involving Title VII, ADA, ADEA, FMLA, and more. With experience in industries like manufacturing and education, Nakimuli also advises on COVID-19-related issues. She is licensed in Mississippi and Tennessee and teaches Employment Law at Mississippi College School of Law.

Salin Geevarghese
Board Member
Salin Geevarghese is the President & CEO of SGG Insight, LLC, providing consulting services to public, private, nonprofit, and philanthropic leaders. He is also a Senior Fellow at the Center for the Study of Social Policy (CSSP) and founding Director of the Mixed-Income Strategic Alliance. From 2014 to 2017, Salin served as HUD’s Deputy Assistant Secretary for the Office of International and Philanthropic Innovation under President Obama, where he led efforts in sustainable urbanization and cross-sector partnerships. He has held leadership roles at the Annie E. Casey Foundation and The Harwood Institute, focusing on community and economic development policy and innovation.

Trené Hawkins
Board Member
Trené Hawkins is a program officer at the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (RWJF), focused on deploying philanthropic capital strategically and equitably. She helped shape RWJF’s innovation portfolio and advance equity in grantmaking. Currently, she works on ensuring equitable resource distribution for parents, caregivers, and families in the U.S. economy. Trené also contributes to RWJF’s efforts to integrate equity into its organizational culture and practices. She holds degrees from Princeton University, Rutgers, and The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania. A lifelong New Jersey resident, Trené enjoys baking, fashion, basketball, and travel.

John Newsome
Board Member
John Newsome is the founder of Public Equity Group (2011 to the present), and has been a strategy and management consultant since 2001, including four years (2001-2005) at the Bridgespan Group (consultant and manager/management team member) and affiliations with numerous other firms, including FSG Social Impact Advisors (project senior advisor), LeadWell Partners, and RootCause, among others.
From 2009-11, John’s consulting work took him in-house at the (renamed) Global Business Coalition on Health, where as Vice President of US Initiatives he led innovative public-private partnerships between multinational companies (e.g., Chevron, L’Oreal, Levi-Strauss, Pfizer, Brinks) and public partners (e.g., the White House, CDC, DC Dept of Health). Likewise, in 2005-06, John’s consulting with the Bridgespan Group led him to the Oakland Public Schools, where he served in the chief of staff role. Prior to consulting, John served on the management team of the Center for Third World Organizing, and as Press Secretary to US Rep. Barbara Lee (D-Oakland).
In 2016, John co-founded Fight for a Better America, a federal super PAC that funds data-driven, grassroots, voter engagement campaigns to flip districts from red to blue. Fight’s 2017-18 investments supported work in 7 US Congressional districts. Progressives and moderates won in each of those races. From 2004 to 2009, John led “…And Castro for All”, an intersectional initiative focused on LGBT equality, and racial & economic justice, best known for winning unprecedented city and state racial bias cases/judgments. Subsequently John co-founded “…And Marriage for All”, which mobilized African-American support for marriage equality in CA (per this interview @ UC Berkeley), during which time he co-developed a planning guide for statewide marriage equality campaigns (with Evan Wolfson).
John holds an MBA, an MA in Modern Thought & Literature (with a focus on colonialism), a Spanish fluency certification and a BA in Spanish Literature (with a focus on colonialism) from Stanford University. John is a 1990 National Endowment for the Humanities Fellow and a 2002 Coro Community Fellow.

Carol Wishcamper

Carol Wishcamper has thirty years of experience as a leader in the education and nonprofit sectors. She has an organizational development consulting practice focused on capacity building, offering services in strategic planning, leadership development, executive coaching, conflict management, and communication skills (www.carolwishcamper.com). She lives in Freeport, Maine, with her husband, Joe, a developer of affordable housing. They have two grown sons and two grandchildren.
